The writer (particularly the poet) writes and describes what they see through a lens that is always biased by their experience and understanding of the world. The reader, almost identically, does the same when immersing themselves in what they are given to read. Both writing and reading are, therefore, extremely personal and intimate experiences, which take on different forms and theories, depending on the subject matter. The writer writes, as much as the reader reads, what they (have) live(d).

 

“panorama.”, then, attempted to depart from the work of each of those honored by the 51st Funchal's Book Fair to create four interactive sound installations. Without a deep prior knowledge (as far as possible) of the biography, experiences, beliefs, language, and style of each of these authors, I built small mythologies of what I understood to be evident in certain texts by Ana Margarida Falcão, Irene Lucília Andrade, João Cabral do Nascimento and Luís Vaz de Camões.

 

In this project, only the written work informed the visual work; four testimonies (like myths and stories) invented from others, by a biased mind, shaped and laminated by the experience of the 21st century.
