An installation that brought together all the pieces used (in the case of the costumes) and created (in the case of the drawings and paintings) during the residency, answering the question: “If everything I make and know within and about my artistic practice is wrong, how do I find what is minimally "correct"?”

 

I invited 16 friends (artists and non-artists, schoolmates, people with more and less recent presences in my life, work colleagues, and even the other resident artists) to experiment and interact with a group of 13 pieces already used by me in past works and exhibitions, freely and (to a certain extent) uninformedly. During these interactions, documented through photographs and videos, each participant was asked to choose a set of pieces and pose for two portraits.​ These life-drawing moments took place in the so-called "action zone", a two-dimensional cardboard base, almost sacred, from which “arms” or beams later grew to receive both the artistic objects from my "collection" – accompanied by 13 enlarged and manipulated representations of these – and the 32 paintings and drawings that emerged from this process.

 

All these experiences were also recorded in audio and included in this piece ("action zone – conversations"). More than 15 hours of conversations were filtered and edited so that the public, while listening as they walked through the installation, could feel part of the creative process.

 

Ultimately, "action zone" is a cocoon, a possible reproduction of my creative process; a dome of colour, lines and marks that begins to try to organize and give shape to a restless mind in constant change and improvisation, but also deals with shared memories and moments – it is a work as much individual as it is collective, open to any and all ideas and interpretations.
