“a cabinet of wonders and a living room” originated from the 16th-century idea of the “cabinet of curiosities”, and was an attempt to create a possible reflection of part of my childhood experience, albeit in an effort to explore our “shared concept of childhood”. Thus was born this concept of a “labyrinth” made of repressed memories, which would end with the entrance into a smaller space – a living room – where five characters would come to life in short videos accompanied by Portuguese children’s songs recorded entirely by me.

Five sculpture pieces and video-performances made up this installation for my Degree Show that was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A virtual version of what this project could have looked like when finished can be found here.
