Getting ready to start a one-month residency at the arquipélago – Contemporary Arts Centre! This amazing opportunity is part of a much bigger project, "Semeadores", which is happening between 2024 and 2026, created by the Funchal City Hall's Department of Culture in partnership with Capela da Boa Viagem – diffusion centre for contemporary art and culture.

My time on the island of São Miguel will be spent thinking about and building an exhibition based on the idea of the sandcastle not only as a cheerful, hopeful childhood activity but also as a reminder of the brevity of life and the mark(s) we leave behind.

Funchal's Book Fair 2025 – 4 authors, 4 islands, 4 panoramas.
For its 2025 edition, Funchal's Book Fair, similar to last year, is honouring four other Portuguese authors: Ana Margarida Falcão, Irene Lucília Andrade, João Cabral do Nascimento and Luís Vaz de Camões. I was invited, once more, to create four interactive installation pieces that will be displayed in Avenida Arriaga throughout the Fair's duration.

These are four tipi-like structures that are covered in different landscapes (or panoramas) based on some writings by these authors, that will be recorded and later played inside each sculpture.
